American distributor Funimation announced at their Anime Expo panel this Thursday that they will be holding US screenings for idol anime movie Love Live. Sunshine.. School Idol Movie Over the Rainbow.

Fresh news off the Anime Expo 2019, where Akira creator Katsuhiro Otomo was a special guest: the Akira manga is set to receive an anime adaptation from studio Sunrise. This was confirmed by Sunrise’s president and CEO Makoto Asanuma, who was present at the panel as well.

Congratulations are in order for the well-loved and internationally popular Love Live. franchise, as the multimedia project is celebrating its 9th anniversary on June 30. The franchise has indeed come so far since it was first unveiled in 2010 with that iconic illustration of lead character Kousaka Honoka in the Dengeki G’s Magazine.

Fan favorite horror franchise Hell Girl (Jigoku Shoujo) has just released more details about its upcoming live-action film adaptation. The movie’s official website has first unveiled a teaser visual featuring model/actress Tina Tamashiro as lead character Ai Enma.

And more news from the “Usagi Special Birthday Party 2019” event last Saturday: besides a two-part movie, the beloved Sailor Moon franchise will also be getting an ice show. The ice show, which will be the first of its kind for the iconic anime & manga series, will be starring none other than anime fan Evgenia Medvedeva.

Moonies one and all, get hyped. This news has been overdue for quite a while now, and now we are finally getting it: Toei has confirmed that a two-part movie for iconic anime Sailor Moon is set for a 2020 release.
