Over the past few years up to this point, millions of viewers hastily looked for new ways to entertain themselves.
It’s rare for a manga to get adapted almost simultaneously into two mediums—anime and a live-action film—but Io Sakisaka’s Omoi, Omoware, Furi, Furare (Love Me, Love Me Not) is doing just that! To give us a sneak preview on how the two mediums look side-by-side, the official website for the live-action version just streamed special promo video showing just that. Check out the promo video here, where we see the characters in both anime and live-action form!
The cast for the anime movie adaptation are:
· Marika Suzuki (in her first-ever voice acting role) as Yuna Ichihara, a shy girl who loves reading shoujo manga but hasn’t experienced love yet. She falls in love with Rio, Akari’s step-brother.
· Megumi Han as Akari Yamamoto, a girl who befriends the shy Yuna. She initially pushes Yuna to Inui, the latter’s childhood friend, but eventually falls for Inui herself.
· Soma Saito as Kazuomi Inui, Yuna’s childhood friend. He eventually falls for Akari, Yuna’s best friend.
· Nobunaga Shimazaki as Rio Yamamoto, Akari’s step-brother. Before his father married her mother, he was in love with her but had to suppress his feelings once they became step-siblings. Eventually he falls for Yuna but is hesitant to confess
The anime film will be directed by Toshimasa Kuroyanagi (Say, “I Love You”, The Great Passage) with Erika Yoshida (Namu Amida Butsu! – Rendai Utena -) penning the scripts. Character design is done by Yuu Yamashita (Bunny Drop) and Yuuji Nomi (Whisper of the Heart, Say, “I Love You”) is in charge of composing the music. The film is produced by A-1 Pictures.
The live-action movie, on the other hand, will be directed by Takahiro Miki. Miki also directed the live-action film adaptation of another Io Sakisaka manga, Ao Haru Ride. The live-action film is set for an August 2020 release.
Omoi, Omoware, Furi, Furare is Io Sakisaka’s latest work, which was first published in 2015. The series released its final chapter last April. Anime News Network describes the series’ plot as such:
“The story focuses on two girls whose stances on love are polar opposites. Yuna wants a love that’s like a dream. Akari thinks she can become better at love and is very realistic in her approach. The two heroines’ stories unfold beside two male main characters. Kazuomi doesn’t understand love. He asks, “What’s that, something tasty?” On the other hand, Rio won’t reject anyone who comes his way, as long as that person is cute.”
