Want to be part of a world record attempt for one of the most enduring anime franchises in Japan? Then head over to the San Diego Comic-Con! Toei Animation, Funimation, Bluefin, and Bandai are organizing a Guinness World Record attempt for “the largest gathering of people simultaneously performing the iconic Kamehameha super energy attack move."
The record attempt will happen on the convention’s opening day, July 17, 3:30 PM at the Marriot Marina terrace at the Marriot Marquis San Diego hotel. The first 1000 participants will get a free Dragon Ball Scouter accessory which they can wear during the event itself—and of course, will also make a nice memorabilia and evidence that you were part of the record attempt. Goku voice actor Sean Schemmel will be present during the attempt and will be leading the crowd for the shouting of simultaneous Kamehameha.
The Guinness World Record attempt is a part of a series of Dragon Ball Z-related activities planned out during the San Diego Comic-Con, collectively called 2019 Dragon Ball World Adventure. The activities consist of getting the chance to live-demo the latest Dragon Ball video games, take photos at interactive photo booths, and a sticker rally at each attraction in the Dragon Ball World Adventure event which can be traded for official wristbands, posters, lanyards, stickers, and Saiyan Hair Set hairbands.
Dragon Ball was created by Akira Toriyama and was first serialized in the Weekly Shonen Jump magazine in 1984. The manga ran until 1995, collected into 42 tankobon volumes. The manga was adapted into two anime series, Dragon Ball and Dragon Ball Z in 1986 and 1989, respectively. The massive success of the series both in Japan and in other countries spawned several movies, two sequel series, a varied line of merchandise, and an enduring image as one of Japan’s most successful anime franchises of all time.
