Yes, you read that right, folks—it seems that we are getting more than one season of Fruits Basket! The much-awaited reboot, which was first announced in November 2018, has just released a new, gorgeous trailer where we get to hear a lot of characters for the first time! Take a deep breath, prepare for all the feels, and check out the official trailer below!
For Funimation’s English-subbed trailer, you can watch it here.
At the end of the trailer we see the Japanese title card of the anime, subtitled “1st season”. So with the manga having 136 chapters and the fact that the anime was previously confirmed to be adapting the entire manga’s story, it’s highly possible that we will be getting another (or even more!) season(s) of Furuba! How cool is that?
The anime’s official website has also unveiled a beautiful new key visual, featuring the main trio Tohru, Kyo, and Yuki, along with Shigure, Arisa and Saki.
The all-new Fruits Basket reboot is set for an April 5 premiere. The anime will be having an entirely new staff & cast, as per creator Natsuki Takaya’s request. The English dub, on the other hand, will comprise both returning and new voice actors. Below are the confirmed returning English dub cast:
• Laura Bailey as Tohru Honda
• Eric Vale as Yuki Soma
• Jerry Jewell as Kyo Soma
• John Burgmeier as Shigure Soma
• Justin Cook as Hatsuhari Soma
• Kent Williams as Hatori Soma
• Christopher R. Sabat as Ayame Soma
Below are voice dub actors who are new to Furuba:
• Tia Ballard as Kagura Soma
• Mikaela Krantz as Momiji Soma
• Elizabeth Maxwell as Arisa Uotani
• Jad Saxton as Saki Hanajima
• Colleen Clinkenbeard as Akito Soma
• Lydia Mackay as Kyoko Honda
Funimation has gained the licensing rights to Furuba and will be streaming it on their website, FunimationNow. The company is also holding special screenings of the anime’s first two episodes in select US theaters on March 26 (English-dubbed) and March 27 (Japanese dub), more than a week before the anime’s official premiere.
