Miyuki Sawashiro Joins Fruits Basket’s Stellar Japanese Cast, April 5 Premiere Set

Another well-known seiyuu joins the ranks of the new voice cast for Fruits Basket! The seventh issue of Hakusensha’s Hana to Yume magazine for this year announced that famous voice actress Miyuki Sawashiro is set to voice Kyoko Honda, the mother of lead character Tohru. In addition, the official Japanese Fruits Basket website also released key visuals for her character.

Since her debut in 1999, Miyuki Sawashiro has voiced several well-known characters such as Kurapika of Hunter x Hunter, Sinon of Sword Art Online, and Fujiko Mine of Lupin the Third (since the franchise’s 2011 TV special Blood Seal – Eternal Mermaid). Sawashiro will be joining other well-known personalities in the seiyuu world in breathing new life to the beloved characters of Fruits Basket. The all-new Japanese cast and staff is in fulfillment of series creator Natsuki Takaya’s request, who serves as the anime series’ Executive Supervisor.

The anime’s official website has also confirmed that the much-awaited reboot will start airing on April 5.
