Synopsis
Felicia Swallows was once a figure who was admired by many young ladies. However, due to a false charge, she ends up having her engagement with His Highness annulled and was expelled from school. While it may seem like a bad end for the now former lady, she in fact planned this with the goal of living the life of a commoner. The truth is that she is a reincarnated girl and the world she is in now is the otome game “Nation’s Saviour Lady Rose” in which she had been meant to be the heroine but she planned otherwise.
Thoughts on the Story and Characters
To have the protagonist as the supposed heroine of the “game story” rather than a mob character or a villain character is a nice change of pace. Usually, stories that have characters like Felicia as the hero results in a romantic type of story where the males are featured and the female main character turning out rather delicate. It’s nice to see here that the while the female protagonist is not OP, she does have a dynamic character to her and the way she cautions her interactions with the male targets through her knowledge of the game is rather smart.
The downside of the series is that being as short as it is currently translated, it’s clearly in the beginning stage of the series by introducing all of the male characters in certain short arcs. The problem with this is that it seems to drag the story along and present the appearance of the male characters as rather formulaic. And rather than moving the plot it seems to layer on one point of the story. Still, there are interesting points to their introduction and their overall characters are not all that bad.
Should you Read it?
Fans of stories involving characters who have been reborn into an otome game will find the series meeting this niche while doing something different from usual with the whole protagonist being a heroine running away from her romance rather than a villainess running away from her destruction flags. The protagonist has a good dynamic character and is interesting for not being an OP character. The only problem with the series so far is that it seems to have a slow pacing and is dragging the character introductions. There are still interesting points though and the series does take a step outside the box.
