Series author Take has previously expressed their thoughts and excitement for the upcoming anime adaptation of their manga, saying that “it was the hardest thing to keep this announcement a secret”. They also expressed hope that audiences “could look forward to seeing Uzaki moving around”.
The series will be directed by Kazuya Miura (Kemono Michi: Rise Up), with Takashi Aoshima (Yuruyuri – Happy Go Lily, Himouto! Umaru-chan) overseeing the scripts. Character design will be handled by Manabu Kurihara (Kemono Michi: Rise Up). Kadokawa’s subsidiary studio ENGI is producing the series. The series is set for a July release.
Uzaki-chan Wants to Hang Out! is written and illustrated by Take. The manga was first released in online platform Niconico on December 2017 under the Dra Dra Sharp brand. The series is a huge hit in Japan, especially for an online manga—compiled volumes of Uzaki-chan by Kadokawa have reached 500,000 sales.
Seven Seas holds the English license to the series, and they describe the story as thus:
“Sakurai Shinichi’s one wish is for a little peace and quiet. But Uzaki Hana–his boisterous, well-endowed underclassman–has other plans. All she wants is to hang out and poke fun at him. With the help of her chipper charm and peppy persistence, this might just be the start of a beautiful relationship!”
