Over the past few years up to this point, millions of viewers hastily looked for new ways to entertain themselves.
Apparently it’s not all that bad if an anime film gets delayed because of the coronavirus, based on the experience of Studio Colorido’s anime film A Whisker Away (Nakitai Watashi wa Neko o Kaburu or Wanting to Cry, I Pretend to Be a Cat). It was earlier announced that the film’s release, which was originally scheduled for June 5 in Japanese theaters, has been postponed due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. This Thursday, however, the film’s official website announced that the film will now instead debut exclusively in Netflix globally on June 18.

Anime News Network describes the film’s story as such:
“The original story about finding one’s true self is set in Tokoname, Aichi and centers on Miyo “Muge” Sasaki. She is a peculiar second-year junior high student who has fallen in love with her classmate Kento Hinode. Muge resolutely pursues Hinode every day, but he takes no notice of her. Nevertheless, while carrying a secret she can tell no one, Muge continues to pursue Hinode. Muge discovers a magic mask that allows her to transform into a cat named Tarō. The magic lets Muge get close to Hinode, but eventually it may also make her unable to transform back to a human.”

· Kōichi Yamadera as the Cat Storekeeper
· Hiroaki Ogi (from comedian duo OgiYahagi) as Homeroom Teacher Kusugi-sensei
· Minako Kotobuki as Yoriko Fukase, Muge’s close friend
· Kensho Ono as Masamichi Isami, Hinode’s friend
· Susumu Chiba as Yōji Sasaki, Muge’s father
· Ayako Kawasumi as Kaoru Mizutani, Muge’s father’s girlfriend
· Sayaka Ohara as Miki Saitō, Muge’s mother
· Daisuke Namikawa as Tomoya Sakaguchi, a young man who works in the Hinode family’s pottery studio
The film is directed by Junichi Sato (Sailor Moon) and Tomotaka Shibayama (Le Chevalier D’Eon) for Studio Colorido. The scripts are written by Mari Okada (anohana: The Flower We Saw That Day).
