The stream will only be for a limited time though, as Funimation has announced that the movie will only be available starting Friday, April 17 4:00 PM ET until Monday, April 20 at 4:00 PM ET.

The movie was also given a North American release by Aniplex and Funimation Films last October, with an advance special screening held during Anime Expo last July.

The series’ main staff and cast returned for the film, such as director Soichi Masui, scriptwriter Masahiro Yokotani, and character designer Satomi Tamura. The film is produced by CloverWorks.

Rascal Does Not Dream of A Dreaming Girl movie opened in Japan last June 2019. The movie is an adaptation of the sixth and seventh light novel volumes of Hajime Kamoshida’s Seishun Buta Yarou/ Rascal Does Not Dream of Bunny Girl Senpai series. The light novel series was first published in 2014 and was adapted into an anime series by CloverWorks in 2018.

The film’s story is described by Aniplex of America as such:

His blissful days with his girlfriend and upperclassman, Mai Sakurajima, are interrupted with the appearance of his first crush, Shoko Makinohara. For reasons unknown, he encounters two Shokos: one in middle school and another who has become an adult.

As Sakuta finds himself helplessly living with Shoko, the adult Shoko leads him around by the nose, causing a huge rift in his relationship with Mai.

In the midst of all this, he discovers that the middle school Shoko is suffering from a grave illness and his scar begins to throb…”
