2019’s Top-Selling Anime CD Singles Are Revealed!

 

2019 was something in the world of anime and Japanese music. Oricon has recently released the top-selling CD Singles of this year and here are the results:

Uma to Shika from Children of the Sea’s Umi no Yurei is at number 1 with estimated number of 483, 265 CDs sold. The single was released on September 11, 2019. The song is performed by Kenshi Yonezu

Homechigirist/Kizudarake no Ai from Captain Tsubasa is ranked at number 2 with an estimated number of 151,547 CDs sold.

Third is Super Powers (One Piece)/Right Now by V6 with around 112,720 CDs sold.

The fourth and fifth singles in the ranks are respectively performed by Aqours. The songs are Tōsō Meisō Möbius Loop/Hop? Stop? Nonstop! and Bokura no Hashittekita Michi wa../Next SPARKLING!!, both songs from Love Live! Sunshine!! The School Idol Movie Over the Rainbow

About One Piece

One Piece follows the adventures of Monkey D. Luffy, who gained the ability to stretch his body like rubber after he accidentally ate a Devil Fruit. Together with the Straw Hat Pirates, they explore the Grand Line in search of the “One Piece,” the greatest treasure in the world, and the key to becoming the next Pirate King.

The manga was first released in the Weekly Shonen Jump on July 22, 1997. The anime adaptation began airing in Japan in 1999 produced by Toei Animation. So far it one of the longest-running anime series to date.

The One Piece manga has sold millions of physical copies both in print and digital worldwide. In fact, the series has even won a Guinness World Record for “most copies published in the comic book series by a single author in 2015. One Piece is just one example of a great series that still haven’t lost momentum until this day.

Aside from its anime adaptation, the series also has its own anime movie. Just recently, the official website of the franchise’s recent anime film One Piece Stampede revealed that the movie had earned more than 5.5 billion yen in Japan alone. The movie’s total worldwide earnings are at 9.3 billion yen. The release of the movie marks the 20th anniversary of the One Piece anime adaptation.

About Children of the Sea

Children of the Sea is an animated film that is directed by Ayumu Watanabe and produced by Eika Tanaka. It premiered in theaters on May 19, 2019, and earned a box office gross of 310 million yen.

The movie is based on the manga of the same name created by Daisuke Igarashi who is also writing the movie’s screenplay. It is set by and in the ocean with themes about the mysteries of life, as well as showing the connections between humanity and nature. 

Love Live! Sunshine!! The School Idol Movie Over the Rainbow

The Over the Rainbow movie opened in Japan on January 4, earning a total of 93, 963, 900 yen in the first three days of its release. The movie follows through on the second season of the highly popular idol animé, where Aqours won the Love Live contest. As the first and second years prepare to enroll in a new school, the third years suddenly go missing during their graduation trip to Italy. Chika and her fellow Aqours members go to Italy to look for the third years.
