More anime is coming to our Netflix screens, as the international streaming platform has just announced that they will be adding the second season of slice-of-life romcom Karakai Jouzu no Takagi-san (Teasing Master Takagi-san) to their ever-growing roster of anime titles. According to their press release, Takagi-san season 2 will be available worldwide starting on December 6.
The second season aired in Japan from July 7 to September 22, 2019. It aired a total of 12 episodes, same as the first season. An OVA was also released on July 2018, shortly after the first season ended.
Director Hiroaki Akagi and assistant director Shin’ya Une, who directed season 1, returned to helm the series’ second season. The script was handled by Kanichi Katou (Idol Time PriPara), Aki Itami (The Comic Artist and His Assistants), and Hiroko Fukuda (Amanchu! Advance), all of whom are new to the series. Aya Takano still handled character designs, along with sub-character designers Takuji Mogi and Natsukou Kondou. Music composition was done by Hiroaki Tsutsumi. The second season is still produced by Shin-Ei Animation.
Voice actors Rie Takahashi (Re:Zero – Starting Life in a New World’s Emilia) and Yuuki Kaji (Attack on Titan’s Eren Yeager), who voiced Takagi and Nishikata respectively, also reprised their roles for the second season.
Soichiro Yamamoto first launched Karakai Jozu no Takagi-san as a manga in 2013. In January 2018 the anime adaptation of Yamamoto’s manga aired, produced by Shin-Ei Animation. The story centers on Nishikata who is always at the receiving end of his female classmate Takagi-san’s pranks. He vows to get back at her by attempting to prank her to make her blush, but his attempts always end up backfiring on him. As he tirelessly tries to make Takagi-san blush, could his “pranks” end up yielding an unexpectedly sweet and romantic result?
