We’ve had racehorse girls, school idol girls, stage girls, baseball girls, and now we have… jet ski girls? Yes, it appears that Japan will never run out of themes to explore in their anime, as we will be getting a series about girls competing in jet ski races! This will be the theme of multimedia project (yes, they’re all the rage these days) Kandagawa Jet Girls, a collaboration between Kadokawa, game company Marvelous, and production company EGG FIRM.
Just this Wednesday a new PV was revealed for the anime, where we get a glimpse of the characters and some fanservice featuring big boobs and shiny legs and a sneak preview of the anime’s theme song, “Bullet Mermaid”. It will be performed by Yu Sasahara and Riko Kohara, the voice actresses of the two main characters. Check out the PV here!
The anime’s confirmed cast are:
· Yū Sasahara as Rin Namiki
· Riko Kohara as Misa Aoi
· Azusa Tadokoro as Kaguya Shinjūin
· Aya Suzaki as Kuromaru Manpuku
· Rumi Okubo as Pan Tsui
· Naomi Ōzora as Pan Tina
· Lynn as Jennifer Peach
· Ai Fairouz as Emily Orange
· Chika Anzai as Manatsu Shiraishi
· Kaori Maeda as Yuzu Midorikawa
· Ayaka Asai as Fūka Tamaki
· Aya Uchida as Inori Misuda
The series will be directed by Hiraku Kaneko (Tsuredure Children), with series composition to be handled by Go Zappa (Nekopara). Character designs will be handled by Tsutomu Miyazawa (Samurai Girls), with original designs done by Hanaharu Naruko (Gargantia on the Verdurous Planet). The series will be produced by TNK (High School DxD).
Last August, it was announced that Kandagawa Jet Girls will also be getting a PlayStation 4 game, with more details to be revealed this September.
The story is set in a futuristic world where high school girls compete in jet ski races in pairs—the Jetter maneuvers the jet ski while the Shooter is at the back, attacking opponents using a squirt gun.
Main character Rin Namiki is the daughter of a famous Jetter who wants to follow her mother’s footsteps. To fulfill her dream, she moves out of the countryside and goes to Asakusa, Tokyo to become a Jetter. There she meets the cool Misa Aoi, who eventually becomes her partner and with whom she forms the duo “Kandagawa Jet Girls”. Together, the two take on other opponents and get to bond as well. Do I smell yuri bait? Yes, I smell it.
The anime is set for an October 8 premiere.
