In a previous article, we mentioned that the 1st two episodes of the Fruits Basket reboot will be shown ahead of its premiere date in select US theaters by FUNimation. We now have good news for fans waiting for the screening dates, as the anime distributing company has just announced them! According to FUNimation’s official Twitter account, the theatrical events will occur on two dates: March 26 and 27, with the former to show the English dub of Furuba’s first two episodes and the latter to premiere the Japanese dub of the show.
Besides giving the fans the opportunity to watch Furuba’s first two episodes well before its release on TV, the theatrical events on both dates will also feature special commentary from both the Japanese and English dub actors of the show. Fans who get to attend the screening dates also get an exclusive gift pack containing Fruits Basket merchandise. The gift pack consists of button pins featuring Tohru, Kyo, and Yuki, a lanyard, and a limited edition cup. Check it out below:
Ticket sales are not on sale yet, so stay tuned for further updates!
In other Furuba news, more cast announcements were made recently. Kent Williams and Christopher R. Sabat are both returning to voice Hatori and Ayame Soma, respectively. They are joining the other original English dub actors such as Laura Bailey (Tohru), Eric Vale (Yuki), Jerry Jewell (Kyo), John Burgmeier (Shigure), and Justin Cook (Hatsuharu).
The Fruits Basket reboot will be produced by TMS Entertainment, and will be under the direction of Yoshihide Ibata. It is set to air on April 2019.
