Boogiepop Doesn't Laugh Launches with a 1-hour Premiere

The upcoming “Boogiepop Doesn’t Laugh” anime has its Japanese broadcast schedule confirmed. And in addition, an initial broadcast event has been announced.

The initial broadcast event will be featuring an hour-long screening of the first and second episode of the anime. Following this, the anime will return to its normal release schedule of one episode per week. Other than an airing, the series will also be digitally distributed in Japan on AbemaTV.

The “Boogiepop Doesn’t Laugh” broadcast schedule is as follows:

AT-X: every Friday during the 21: 00-time slot beginning on January 04, 2019.
Tokyo MX: every Friday during the 22: 00-time slot beginning on January 04, 2019.
TV Aichi: every Friday during the 27: 05-time slot beginning on January 11, 2019.
KBS Kyoto: every Friday during the 24: 30-time slot beginning on January 04, 2019. (The initial broadcast will be at 24:00 to accommodate the 1-hour special premiere.)
Sun TV: every Friday during the 24: 30-time slot beginning on January 04, 2019. (The initial broadcast will be at 24:00 to accommodate the 1-hour special premiere.)
BS11: every Friday during the 23: 00-time slot beginning on January 04, 2019.

Based on the supernatural light novels written by Kouhei Kadano and illustrated by Kouji Ogata, the anime is directed and written by Shingo Natsume and Tomohiro Suzuki. Taking on the character designs is Hidehiko Sawada while composing the music is kensuke ushio.

“Boogiepop Doesn’t Laugh” features an urban legend that children tell about a shinigami that can release people from the pain they are suffering. What most do not know however is that this “Angel of Death” known as Boogiepop is in fact real.

What’s more, they may be related to the sudden breakout of disappearances involving female students at Shinyo Academy. While the authorities and faculty assume that this is simply a case of runaways, Nagi Kirima knows better.
