A new VISA card design has been released featuring an illustration of Serval and Mirai from the “Kemono Friends” franchise. Illustrated by the franchise’s concept designer Mine Yoshizaki, the cards have been offered by the Sumitomo Mitsui Card Company since November 30.
Like with previous cards such as the one featuring “Love Live! Sunshine!!” last month, applicants will receive special items. For this month’s “Kemono Friends” card, applicants a special limited edition clear file folder using the illustration as admission benefit. Its annual fee is 1,250 yen but for the first year, it will be free.
Other than this, applicants will also be able to receive other items depending on the number of points they have.
In addition to being a credit card, the “Kemono Friends” card is also a socially collaborative type card. Collaborating with the card is the Japanese branch of WWF (World Wide Fund for Nature), an international non-governmental organization that has been active in more than 100 countries in the world to conserve nature, natural resources and the diversity of the animals on the earth since 1961.
A certain amount of spending money by the card will be donated to the organization and for those who use 500 points of their card to donate to WWF Japan, they will receive an original cotton backpack. Other items that can be bought with points are an original thermo bottle with 1000 points and a copied illustration with Mine Yoshizaki’s handwritten signature with 4,000. Points can be bought with a thousand yen a point using the card.
“Kemono Friends” is a Japanese media franchise created by manga artist Mine Yoshizaki and began with a mobile game developed by Nexon in March 2015. This was followed by a manga by Furai was serialized in Kadokawa’s Monthly Shōnen Ace between May 2015 and March 2017. Most recently, a by Tomason has been green-lit, and it is set to premiere in January 2019.
The story of the franchise sets in a large zoo home to extant species, endangered species, extinct species, cryptids and some legendary creatures called Japari Park. Starring in this tale are the different animals that have become anthropomorphized into girls due to to a mysterious substance known as “Sandstar” and have become beings called Friends.
