The Cesare Manga Returns After a 4-year Wait

After years of being on a hiatus, the “CESARE – Il Creatore che ha distrutto” historical manga makes its return in this year’s 50th issue of Kodansha’s Morning magazine on Thursday.

Created by Fuyumi Soryo, the manga will be published in the magazine once a month. Back on November 7, the manga created posted on her blog that she was planning to publish five chapters of the manga under the new schedule of publishing one chapter a month. In addition to this, it was stated by Soryo that future chapters are already in progress and will probably appear sometime next year. Currently, the manga is entering the papal conclave storyline.

“CESARE – Il Creatore che ha distrutto” a.k.a. “Cesare, the Destroyer Creator” is a historical work that sets during the Renaissance Italy. The story takes focus on the life of one of history’s most enigmatic figures, Cesare Borgia. Known as an aristocrat of the time, the series takes an in-depth look at the character’s life during his matriculation at the University of Pisa, at the age of 15, in the years preceding his appointment as a cardinal of the Holy See.

The series was launched in 2005 in the Morning magazine and had Motoaki Hara supervising the work. The last time the manga had a publication was in January 2015 when Kodansha released its 11th volume. The hiatus of the series was announced in October 2014.

Fuyumi Soryo is a Japanese manga artist who made her debut with “Sunspot Visitor” (Hidamari no hōmonsha) in Bessatsu Shōjo Comic’s April 1982 edition. One of the works she is known for is the “Mars” manga which launched in 1996 until 2000 and had 15 volumes released. The series has a gained a prequel work in 2002 titled “Mars Gaiden.” in addition a prequel work, the series two live-action drama series and a live-action film.
