Synopsis
Set in the Grigio Academy Boarding School where students come from two rivaling countries known as the “Black Dogs” and “White Cats,” this is the story of the two factions’ leaders. They are Inuzuka and Persia and every day, they and they factions face off in all kinds of fights. However, the truth is that the Black Dogs leader Inuzuka is in love with Persia.
One night after Inuzuka saves Persia, the two enter into a sword fight and it is during that moment that Inuzuka confesses his feelings. While Persia is initially flustered by this, the two end up as a couple but they must keep their relationship a secret from other dorm mates while trying to avoid trouble.
The Good
It’s a romance work that has a classic note to it but presents it in a way that makes it work. The way that Persia and Inuzuka are portrayed as a developing couple is rather sweet. The overall background and set-up of the story are rather interesting and the story flow is not too bad so far. One of the more fun aspects of the series is how it presents its action and comedy. Simply put, the first three episodes presented the series as something silly but cute with some good action and a potential in romance development.
The Bad
While the way the concept of the series is nice, the general idea of the series is not all that new in the shoujo genre. In addition, with the way that the third episode was presented, it’s clear that the series will be having one or two predictability points in where it is going in terms of plot. Other than this, the characters at their center are rather typical outside of their dynamics with one another. As a whole, there are typical points here but as a whole, they’re rather minor throughout the series.
Conclusion
There’s a cute romance developing mixed in with an interesting concept but overall there isn’t a big impact in terms of something new. There’s no denying that the series is interesting and has potential but there are points where a viewer can tell where the story is going and how the characters are going to deal with certain things. And as good as the action is, the comedy is clearly more on the slapstick side, a kind of humor that is ok depending on how it’s delivered. Basically, this is a series that is good for checking out if you’re looking for something cute and silly with some decent plot.
