The “Umamusume: Pretty Derby” makes a reappearance in the form of a direct-to-video episode set for December. Titled “BNW no Chikai” (“The Oath of BNW”), it is to be a part of the “Umabako: The Fourth Corner”, the fourth special edition volume of the Japanese Bluray home video release of the Umamusume: Pretty Derby TV anime series.
The special edition volume will be priced at 12,800 yen ($113.07 US) plus tax and will be including pack-in bonuses such as setting materials, cast interviews, and an original short story. Other than this, the box set will also be featuring an original animated episode focusing on Biwa Hayahide, Narita Taishin, and Winning Ticket.
The “Umamusume: Pretty Derby” anime was released on April 2 under the production of P.A.Works. It had a total of 13 episodes and had Kei Oikawa, who is known for having worked on the “My Teen Romantic Comedy SNAFU TOO!” as the director. The writers for the series were Masafumi Sugiura aka Pierre Sugiura and Cygames’ Akihiro Ishihara. As for the character designs, they were adapted by Tomoko Tsuji and Yousuke Kabashima.

The story of “Umamusume: Pretty Derby” sets in a world where “horse girls”- great racehorses of the past who have been reborn, exist. The best of these horse girls aim to become racers and idols and do so through training at the Tokyo’s Tracen Academy. One of these aspiring girls is Special Week, a high school horse girl from the countryside and a transferee.
She is determined to fulfill her promise to her mother to become the best horse girl in Japan, and yet, she finds something new to add to her dream. On the way to school, she takes a pit stop at the racetrack and instantly falls in love with Silence Suzuka’s style, from this she makes it a goal to race on the same team as her.
