Three OVA Episodes are Annouced for "Hi-Score Girl"

The “Hi Score Girl” anime has just released its supposed last and 12th episode and yet the episode has revealed that the series will be having more content in the following year. In March 2019, there will be three original video anime (OVAs) to be streamed on Netflix.

Already a teaser video is being streamed by Warner Bros. anime, ending with the line, "Everything is for the sake of someone important to me.

The “Hi Score Girl” anime made its debut on July 13 under the production of J.C Staff. Yoshiki Yamakawa, who has previously worked on the “Kill Me Baby” series acted as the director. As for the series composition, it was Tatsuhiko Urahata, the writer behind the “NANA” anime, who took charge of it. The character designer of the series was Michiru Kuwabata, who also worked on the character designs of “Penguin no Mondai” and “Danchi Tomoo.” Noted as the music composer for the series is Yoko Shimomura, the composer behind

The story of the series takes place in 1991, during the heyday of the 2D fighting game boom. Starring in this tale is a sixth-grader named Haruo. Having no academic or athletic inclinations nor friends due to his less than friendly attitude, the young boy spends his days at an arcade in the seedy part of town. One day while at his usual arcade he encounters to his shock, a female classmate named Akira.

With her good grades and money, she looks completely out of place. However, when he ends up going against her in “Street Fighter II”, he finds himself defeated one round after another. Rather than a rivalry forming between the two from this, an unlikely relationship begins from their encounter.

It was in September 2010 that the “Hi Score Girl” series first appeared as a manga series written and illustrated by Rensuke Oshikiri. Described as a 90’s arcade romantic comedy, the series has become known or its unique art style, and thoroughly accurate depictions of the multitude of gaming software, hardware, and even culture that are featured.
