Distribution of Live-Action ‘Detective Pikachu’ Film to be Taken Over by Warner Bros.

It was revealed on Tuesday by the The Hollywood Reporter that the distribution of Legendary Entertainment’s live-action Pokemon movie Detective Pikachu will be taken over by Warner Bros. The report’s sources implies that this move could probably due to the four-year partnership of Legendary Entertainment with Universal Pictures will end on December 31.

The film which stars Ryan Reynolds as Detective Pikachu, will premiere in the US on May 10, 2019. Distribution of the film for Japan will be done by TOHO.

Detective Pikachu began production in mid-January in London directed Rob Letterman. The film is based on the 2016 Nintendo 3DS game of the same name.
