Synopsis
Tamamo is a high school girl who says that she is a transfer student from Kyoto. For most adults, she seems like a normal though beautiful student. To her classmates, however, she’s a fox girl! The truth is, is that she’s an Inari from the Fushimi Inari Shrine. With her classmates knowing who she truly is, they decide to keep things under wraps as they interact with her. Thus begins a heartfelt comedy tale.
The Good
It’s a rather wholesome series for the most part. There’s a solid balance between the comedy and the friendships that Tamamo forms with her. It also helps that Tamamo is a rather endearing character with her little quirks. Then there is the story of the series. On the surface, it seems like a simple school comedy. However, towards the middle of the series, there’s more of a mix of silliness and high school friendship is shown with the story.
More than a fun little high school story, the series also presents some interesting supernatural points as well. From seeing how Tamamo’s mood affect certain things to meeting the rest of her family and learning what they can do, the supernatural side of the series is also a fun part to enjoy.
The Bad
As interesting as the concept and execution of the series is, it’s a pretty low key story for the most part. Outside of the supernatural parts and the general character development, there isn’t much to expect from the series. The characters could use a little more exploring and a lot of the chapters are rather typical for this genre. What’s more, there are like one or two jokes, like with how characters react to cute things that Tamamo does that can get repetitive. Overall the flaws really fall on a reader’s taste.
Conclusion
The series is cute and it has its moments with the whole supernatural concept. It just a rather typical high school story that could do more in exploring other characters and the story. Honestly, the only real thing against the series is that it may not be for everyone. The series is still nice to sit back and enjoy a good read with. That and it does balance well in story and character so if you want something silly but cute, this is it.
