A ‘Monogatari’ Exhibit will be Held in Anime Expo!

To those who are going to the Anime Expo weekend, you are in luck as Vertical, Inc. will be bringing NisiOisin’s Monotagari art exhibit to the convention. This will also include cool artwork from VOFAN, the franchise’s novel illustrator.

In Japan, SHAFT held a “Madogatari” exhibit was held in Japan in 2015 and 2016 featuring artworks from the Monogatari and Madoka Magica franchises.

Vertical, Inc. is responsible for the publication of the Monogatari series in English. So far they have released the following: the first novel Bakemonogatari, the prequel novel Kizumonogatari –Wound Tale, Nekomonogatari, Nisemonogatari, and Kabukimonogatari. As of this time, they have not yet released the English version of the Hanamonogatari novel but confirms that it’s also licensed by them.

It was announced in a flier in the Owarimonogatari (Ogi Dark) Blu-Ray Disc last December that the “final season” 2014 novel Zoku Owarimonogatari is green-lit for an anime adaptation next year. No details have been revealed yet on what the anime’s format will be.

The Monogatari novel series began in 2006 with Bakemonogatari and its “final season” ended in 2014 with Zoku Owarimonogatari. Although the main series seemed to have ended. A number of “Off Season” novels were released namely Wazamonogatari, Orokamonogatari, Nademonogatari, and Musubimonogatari. The new “Monster Season” series novel titled “Shinobumonogatari was released last July.

The series is centered on a loner and failing student named Koyomi Araragi who meets different girls along the way with each having their own supernatural “oddity”.
