Synopsis
In a forest, there lives multiple demons and a monster named Kavo. As Kavo spends his days in loneliness, things change for him when he one day encounters a middle-aged man being assaulted by three men. Kavo saves the man who he later learns is named Liam and ends up surprised when Liam shows no fear of him. Upon seeing how easy-going Liam is and how dangerous it would be to leave him alone, Kavo decides to aid the man through the forest. Thus begins the tale of an ugly beast and a flirtatious beast of a human companion.
The Good
The main characters are kind of what you would expect yet don’t expect at the same time. Given Liam’s appearance, you would expect him to be a rather chill type of character. He is, but the factor that he is also lax with pleasure makes for an interesting twist to his character type. It’s not a big thing true, but it’s something different. As for Kavo, his background predictably makes him a clear aloof and somewhat temperamental character. For him to be so flustered easily just gives him a fun character.
Simply put, the gap between the characters’ looks and their personalities adds an interesting element to how their relationship and the story develops. On the note of the story, there’s a solid pace going on so far. Also, the slight mystery going on with the characters is a nice touch.
The Bad
So far, after the beginning of the story, the series is a rather low key and may not keep the attention of everybody. The only real factors that hook the reader is the characters and their gaps. Honestly though, if you’ve read enough manga involving this types of characters, the gap isn’t all that big. What’s more, Kavo’s design seems to build up something for future chapters. On the other hand, it may just be this writer’s perspective.
Conclusion
The characters have an interesting gap between their looks and personalities. However, it’s rather minor and only helps in moving the story along. Honesty the series so far is a rather low key and only has hints of what would make the series interesting for future chapters. Still, the art is cute, the characters do have a few good points to them and the series does have its moments for the start.
