“My Sweet Tyrant” has recently reached its 11th episode and already an announcement of a second cour has been made by the series’ official website.
Set to air on June 29 on AT-X followed by an airing on Tokyo MX on July 2, a visual has been posted on the anime’s official Twitter, marking the second cour. In celebration of the series continuation, an original character illustration contest is being held on pixiv. With entries being accepted until July 1, the first prize for the contest is a guaranteed appearance in the anime’s last episode as one of the students at the school.
“My Sweet Tyrant” otherwise known as “Akkun to Kanojo” was first released in June 2013 as a manga series written and illustrated by Waka Kakitsubata. Serialized in Media Factory’s Monthly Comic Gene magazine, the series reached seven volumes before ending in June 2018.
The anime adaptation of the series released on April 6 under the production of Yumeta Company. Formed in 1990., the studio is also known to have produced the “Wolf Girl and Black Prince” series.
Directing the series is Shin Katagai, the director behind “Neo Angelique Abyss”. The writer for the anime is Yuka Yamada, a writer known to have worked on the second season of “ClassicaLoid”.
There is four main cast for the series. Playing the role of male lead Atsuhiro “Akkun” Kagari is Tatsuhisa Suzuki, the voice behind Mikio Shirato in “Megalo Box”. As for the female lead Non “Nontan” Katagiri, she is voiced by Ayaka Suwa, a voice actress who is known for her role in “Assassination Classroom” as Tōka Yada.
Taking on the role of Akkun’ friend, Masago Matsuo is Keisuke Ueda, the voice of Heine Wittgenstein in “The Royal Tutor”. Last but not least, Arisa Kouri plays the role of Akkun’s little sister Chiho Kagari.
The story of the series tells of Atsuhiro “Akkun” Kagari who acts rather harshly towards his sweet girlfriend Non “Nontan” Katagiri. The truth, however, is that Akkun is an extreme tsundere who is deeply in love with Nontan to the point of having stalker tendencies. While Nontan may not be aware of her boyfriend’s strange tendencies, she too is deeply in love with him. This is a look at the daily life of a rather odd couple.
