A Genuinely Sweet Couple Story: Love is Like a Cocktail

Synopsis

Chisato Mizusawa is a calm and collected assistant office manager who apparently dislikes alcohol. This is far from the truth as Chisato actually has a secret side that only comes out when drunk. A cute person that is only known to her bartender husband Sora. Each day after work Sora takes care of Chisato by providing a warm meal and a good drink. This is the story of their daily life as husband and wife mixed with different alcoholic concoctions.

The Good

Finding a series that features an established couple without an exaggerations is a rather pleasant surprise. Both Chisato and Sora make for endearing characters in different ways and are a highly enjoyable couple. They’re the kind of couple that makes you want to smile with how sweet they are. It’s also enjoyable to see the different quirks that Chisato shows as the series progresses and whether she us drunk or not.

Chisato and Sora are not the only enjoyable characters of the series though. Side characters like Yui and Sakurai, Chisato’s coworkers, are rather cute characters as well. They had their moments as engaging character and mainly create a fun and different dynamic for Chisato. Honestly all of the characters are highly likeable in different ways and their dynamics are just sweet.

Other than the characters and their dynamics, the creativity over the drinks is another plus for the series. The way that different drinks are made to match with the tone or theme of the episode is clever. That and the notes on how to make them and how Chisato reacts with the different drinks makes it fun as well.

The Bad

Exploration is the main issue with the series. It’s sweet and enjoyable characters yes, but there could be more explored on the latter. While they have great dynamics overall, it would be nice to have seen more done Chisato and Sora as individual characters. There are moments yes, but with Sora, it would be nice to see more of him outside of being a loving and devoted husband with great house making skills. It’s a minor thing, but it would still be nice to have seen character explorations such as Sora’s background.

Conclusion

If you’re looking for a series that has plenty of sweet couple moments and enjoyable characters, this is it. There’s a lot to enjoy with the series and after everything, the only real issue to be found with the series is the slight lack of character exploration. What’s more, the series brings a creative spin on the alcoholic drinks theme with how it connects with the character portrayal and development. Overall, if you want something lighthearted and refreshing, this is it.
