It was confirmed on Wednesday by the Entertainment news website Variety that X-Men and Westworld actor James Marsden will be part of the cast for the upcoming Sonic the Hedgehog. As of this time, his role in the movie is not been revealed.
Sonic the Hedgehog is slated to premiere on November 15, 2019 and will be a live-action/CGI hybrid film.
Deadpool director Tim Miller and Toby Ascher are executive producing the project with Fast & Furios producer Neal Moritz and co-producers Dan Jevons and Dmitri Johnson. The film will be directed Jeff Fowler, which will be his debut as working as director.
This ambitious film project was first announced in 2014 as a live-action hybrid computer-animated film project by Marza Animation Planet and Sony. In 2016, Sony Pictures Entertainment CEO Hajime Satoshi revealed that the company was planning to produce the film. Fast forward to October last year, it was confirmed that Paramount Pictures acquired the rights to develop the film.
