"Cells at Work" Debuts on July 7 and has New Details Released

The “Hataraku Saibou/Cells at Work!” official website has just confirmed that the anime will be making its debut on July 7 and air on Tokyo MX, BS11, Tochigi TV, and Gunma TV. In addition to this, new cast details and the opening theme song performers have been released.

“Cells at Work” is based on the manga series written and illustrated by Akane Shimizu. It features a tale of anthropomorphic cells of blood that live in the human body. Starring in this tale is a red cell who together with other cells fight, against pathogenic microorganisms and bacteria that enter the human body, for example, through the nose, mouth or open wounds.

Prior to this report, the main cast was as follows:

Neutrophil: Tomoaki Maeno
Erythrocyte: Kana Hanazawa
Macrophage: Kikuko Inoue
Killer T Cell: Daisuke Ono
Platelet: Maria Naganawa
Helper T Cell: Takahiro Sakurai
Regulatory T Cell: Saori Hayami
Eosinophil: M.A.O
Dendritic Cell: Nobuhiko Okamoto
With the new cast, there are four new members. First, there is Yuichi Nakamura, the voice behind Kuroo Tetsurou in “Haikyuu”, playing the role of Memory Cell. Then there is Ayako Kawasumi, who played a role in “Fate/stay night” as Saber, voices Mast Cell. As for the role of Senpai/(Senior) Red Blood Cell, that role will be taken on by Aya Endo, the voice actor of Totoko in “Mr. Osomatsu”. Last but not least, is Hiroyuki Yoshino, the voice behind Present Mic in “My Hero Academia” as Pneumonia Coccus.

For the opening song, it is titled “Mission! Ken-Kou-Dai-Ichi (health comes first)” and will be performed by the following cast members:

Kana Hanazawa (Erythrocyte)
Tomoaki Maeno (Neutrophil)
Daisuke Ono (Killer T Cell)
Kikuko Inoue (Macrophage)

The ending theme, on the other hand, it titled “CheerS” and is performed by the two-member unison duo ClariS.

The manga which the anime is based on made its debut in March 2015. It is serialized in was serialized in Kodansha’s shōnen manga magazine Monthly Shōnen Sirius and currently has 5 volumes.
