Happy Sugar Life has ReoNa Performing its Ending Song

A new detail is released for the upcoming anime, “Happy Sugar Life” anime and that is that ReoNa will be performing the ending song of the series. The ending song is titled “SWEET HURT” and will be released as ReoNa’s debut single in Japan on August 29.

“Happy Sugar Life” is adapted from the Japanese horror manga series written and illustrated by Tomiyaki Kagisora. It is set to premiere this July and is under the animation production of Ezo’la. Directing the upcoming series is Nobuyoshi Nagayama, the director behind “My Girlfriend is Shobitch”. With him as chief director of the series is Keizou Kusakawa, who previously worked as the chief director of “Unlimited Fafnir”. Taking charge of the series composition is the writer behind the “Amnesia” anime, Touko Machida.

Designing the characters is Shouko Yasuda, a major key animator and animation director for different anime including, “Blood Lad” and “Made in Abyss”. As for the music, it will be composed by Koichiro Kameyama. With the opening theme, it will be performed by Nanawoakari.

The story of the series tells of Satou Matsuzaka, a beautiful high school girl who once never refused the advances of any guy around her. That is until she meets a Shio, a younger girl with whom Satou believes she’s found the meaning of love in. Though little is known about Shio, she and Satou live a seemingly happy life together. Believing with certainty that the very sweet feeling she has when with Shio as love, Satou does everything she can to protect it, even going as far as committing murder to do so.

Yumiri Hanamori as Asahi Kōbe
Natsuki Hanae as Taiyō Mitsuboshi
Aya Suzaki as Shōko Hida

It was in 2015 that the manga was launched in Kagisora. Back in August, Square Enix published the manga’s sixth compiled book volume and on March 22, the series’ seventh volume was released.
