The Designs of the Main 7 Cast are Revealed for the Gakuen Basara Anime

The character designs are out for the main group of the upcoming anime adaptation “Gakuen Basara”.

“Gakuen Basara” is a high school spinoff project based on CAPCOM’s “Sengoku Basara” game franchise. It is to be directed by Minoru Ohara, the director behind the “Lupin III: Episode 0 ‘First Contact’” special. He will be working at Brains Base along with scriptwriter Kouji Miura, who previously worked on the “Hamtaro” script. As for the character design, that is credited to Haruhito Takada, an artist known to have worked on the “Death Parade” series as an animation director.

On the note of the character designs, the designs are for the following cast/characters who are reprising their roles:

Date Masamune, who is voiced by Kazuya Nakai, a voice actor best known for his role as Roronoa Zoro in the “One Piece” franchise.

Sōichiro Hoshi, the voice behind Kira Yamato in “Mobile Suit Gundam Seed”, playing as Sanada Yukimura once more.

Katakura Kojūrō, being voiced by Toshiyuki Morikawa, the voice actor behind Dante in “Devil May Cry”.

Voice Actor Takehito Koyasu, known for his role in “Gintama” as Shinsuke Takasugi and the voice of Sarutobi Sasuke.

Maeda Keiji who is voiced by Masakazu Morita, the voice of Barnaby Brooks Jr. in “Tiger & Bunny.”

Ryuuzou Ishino, the voice behind Chang Wufei in “Mobile Suit Gundam Wing” returning as Motochika Chōsokabe.

Shigeru Nakahara, who voices as Android 17 in “Dragon Ball Super” reprises as Motonari Mōri.

The story of the anime is a school battle comedy parody. It reimagines the Warring States Era warriors of CAPCOM’s action game franchise as rival students in a modern high school and features them as students. Starring in the story are Date Masamune and Sanada Yukimura, battling to replace Toyotomi Hideyoshi as the next student council president.

As stated, “Gakuen Basara” is based on the “Sengoku Basara” game franchise. Prior to this anime, the franchise has already had a variety of adaptations. These included three anime series, an animated film, a four-volume manga, radio shows that resulted in four CD volumes being released, a stage play and even a live-action drama.
