Coming this Fall, an Space Battleship Yamato 2202 TV Version

“Star Blazers: Space Battleship Yamato 2202”/“Uchū Senkan Yamato 2202: Ai no Senshi-tachi’s” official Twitter account has announced that the coming this fall in Japan, a television version of the film series will be making its debut.

The project is a seven-part theatrical anime project, for the new anime, Nobuyoshi Habara, who directed the “Star Blazers 2199” series, will be acting as director. With him to take charge of the script for the work is Harutoshi Fukui, the series composer for the project. Acting as executive producer is Shoji Nishizaki, the son of the late creator Yoshinobu Nishizaki.

Nobuteru Yuki, who also worked on the “Star Blazers 2199” series, will be designing the characters. Composing the music for the anime is Akira Miyagawa, the composer of the project. As for the additional staff, there is Makoto Kobayashi serving as assistant director and Junichirō Tamamori and Yasushi Ishizu acting as mechanical designers.

For the story, it is set three years after the Yamato’s return from the planet Iscandar. At this time, the people of Earth restored their planet with the Cosmo Reverse System, and they signed a peace treaty with Garmillas. Outside of the reconstruction of Earth, a development of a new defense fleet that includes the state-of-the-art battleship Andromeda has taken place.

Despite Starsha Iscandar’s wishes, the Earth heads towards a path of military expansion. In assisting towards the so-called peace, the Yamato finds many things coming at a cost. Now with the threat of Gatlantis looming large, the goddess Teresa, who prays for tranquility in space, calls the Yamato to a new voyage.

With the project, it had its start in February 2017 with the film subtitled “Kōshi-hen" a.k.a. “Starting Chapter.” Following after this was the second film, “Hasshin-hen” (Departure Chapter) which made its debut in June 2017. The third film was released in October 2017 and was subtitled “Junai-hen”/“Pure Love Chapter”.

As for the fourth film, it premiered on January 27 and was subtitled “ “Tenmei-hen” a.k.a. “Karma Chapter”. Coming on May 25 is the fifth film, “Rengoku-hen” (Purgatory Chapter).

“Star Blazers: Space Battleship Yamato 2202” is a sequel work to the “Star Blazers: Space Battleship Yamato 2199”. The latter was a remake of the first “Space Battleship Yamato” television series created by Yoshinobu Nishizaki and Leiji Matsumoto in 1974
