Gundam's Newest Anime Project Sets After Unicorn

The “Gundam” franchise has a new anime project in production and it is titled “Mobile Suit Gundam Narrative” a.k.a. “Kidō Senshi Gundam NT.”

Tagged with the line “The next destination of the Newtype legend", the project already has an official website opened by Sunrise. Set in the U.C. 0097 of the Universal Century (U.C.) timeline of the original “Mobile Suit Gundam” series and “Mobile Suit Gundam Unicorn”, the anime is part of the new “UC NexT 0100 Project” that will tackle the future of the UC timeline.

Also confirmed for the anime is a theatrical screening to take place in November. Currently a promotional has been posted by Bandai Channel for the anime.

As stated, the anime is set in U.C. 0097, a year since the Laplace’s Box was opened. And yet, the world remains largely unchanged despite the revelation of the original charter for the Universal Century, which acknowledges the existence of Newtypes and their rights.

During this time the “Laplace Incident”, which described the aftermath of the destruction of the Neo Zeon remnant force known as the Sleeves, seems to have come to an end. What’s more, with the menace of the White Unicorn and the Black Lion having been sealed away from the final battle between two Full Psycho Frame mobile suits, much has been lost to history.

Nowadays however, reports have been made that the long thought lost RX-0 Unicorn 03 named Phenex has been spotted after having been missing for two years.

There are no cast confirmed for the anime, but the following have been listed as characters for the project:

Second lieutenant in the Earth Federation Space Forces and the pilot of the Narrative Gundam, Yona Bashuta. Noted to have been a victim of a disaster in Australia as a child, he is the childhood friend of Michelle and Rita. Also confirmed from the live stream is that the character has “some connection” to the Mobile Suit Zeta Gundam character Stephanie Luio.

Michelle Luio, a special adviser to the Luio company. She is a specialist at fortune telling via bamboo stick divination and has earned the complete trust of the financial world.

Rita Bernal, like Yona, she was the victim of a disaster in Australia in her childhood and is a second lieutenant in the Earth Federation Space Forces. She is the pilot of the Phenex.

Pilot to the Sinanju Stein and the “rival” to the main character, Zoltan Akkanen.

For the staff there is “Mobile Suit Gundam Thunderbolt’s” Shunichi Yoshizawa as the director. He will be directing the anime at Sunrise Studio with Harutoshi Fukui as the writer. Taking charge of the main character designs is Kumiko Takahashi while Se Jun Kim, who previously worked on “Mobile Suit Gundam Twilight AXIS” will be designing the characters for animation. For the protagonist’s new mobile suit however, it will be designed by Hajime Katoki. As for the music of the project, Hiroyuki Sawano will be taking on the composition.
