Returning for more hours of work are the contrasting cats of “Working Buddies!” a.k.a. “Hataraku Oniisan!” as a new season is announced for the series. Set to release in June 2018, the new season will be broadcasted on Tokyo MX and BS.
Prior to the release of the new season there will be rebroadcast of the first season to start in April. It was on January 5, 2018 that the series first made its appearance. Spanning for a total of 12 episodes, the series had just ended on March 23. Produced by Good Smile Company the series had “Kagewani’s” Tomoya Takashima as its director. The writer for the series was Hiromu Kumamoto who also worked on the “Kagewani” series as the script writer.
Credited as the original creator of the series is Yoshiki Usa, the producers behind “Walaba Girl” and “Little Witch Academia.” With the character designs, Haruka Oda was the one to take for the role. As for the music, R.O.N had been the one to compose for the series. The theme song of the series was performed by DearDream, the in-story male idol unit from the Dream Festival! franchise.
The story of the series told of a pair of cats who are classmates and are as different as can be. There is Tapio Chatorazawa, a Calico who has more energy than anyone, then there is Kuehiko Roshihara, a Russian Blue who is a bit of a sourpuss. Together they take on all kinds of different jobs and learn the fun and difficulty of working.
The voice behind Tapio was Kentarou Tomita, who played as Gaju Akagi in “Welcome to the Ballroom.” As for Kuehiko, he was voiced by Takuya Mizoguchi, who played as Shin Oikawa in the “Dream Festival” ONA. Another cast member listed for the series was Tomokazu Sugita, the voice of Tadaomi Karasuma in “Assassination Classroom” as The Animal With the Ineffable Name.
On January 27 a spinoff manga of the series was released in the 53rd issue of Kadokawa’s Comic Dengeki DaiohG magazine. It told of Hachitani and Nezaen, who are classmates of Tapio and Kuehiko and their college lives.
