"Kakuriyo no Yadomeshi" Gains a Stage Play Adaptation

In addition to the upcoming anime adaptation “Kakuriyo Yadomeshi”/”Afterlife Inn Cooking” having its first two episode being screened in advance, a stage play has also been revealed to be under planning and to be based on the novel.

With the advance screening, it was held at the Shinjuku Wald 9 theater in Tokyo yesterday on March 16 along with the announcement of the stage play. No details have been confirmed for the stage play but it has been noted that details on the schedule and cast would be confirmed later.

The anime adaptation of Midori Yuuma’s cooking-themed fantasy light novel series was first announced in November 2011. Set to release during the spring season of the year, a main cast and staff has already been confirmed for the series.

Directing the production is Yoshiko Okuda, who prior to this, majorly worked as a key animator for a variety of series including “Romeo x Juliet” and the third season of “Kuroko’s Basketball.” He will be working at GONZO along with series composer Tomoko Kunparo, the writer behind notable series like “NANA” and “Nodame Cantabile.” Youko Satou, who is known to have worked on the “Attack on Titan” series as an animation director, will be taking on the role of character designer for the series.

Taking charge of composing the music is “Fuuka’s” composer Takurou Iga while music production will be handled by Flying Dog who had also worked on “Fuuka” as its music producer.

With the opening and ending theme, the opening theme is to be performed by Touyama and is titled as “Tō no Manimani.” As for the ending theme, it is titled “Sai color.”

The story for the series tells of Aoi, a female college student who holds pride over her cooking and has the ability to see spirits like her grandfather. One day she is suddenly taken away by master of the “Tenshinya” (Heavenly Inn). According to him, her grandfather had been in debt to him and as payment he would be taking Aoi as a bride. Immediately rejecting the idea, she declares that instead of becoming his bride to pay the debt, she offered her services to work at the Tenshinya.

The series was adapted from the light novel series written by Midori Yūma and illustrated by Laruha. Currently the series has seven volumes published under Fujimi Shobo and has a 4-volume manga adaptation with art by Wako Ioka and under the serialization of Enterbrain’s josei manga magazine B’s Log Comic.
