The “Tiger & Bunny” franchise anime project “Double Decker! Doug & Kirill” is confirmed for release this year.
Revealed by a website opened by Sunrise on Friday, it was also revealed by the website that the anime is but one part of the franchise’s project. Telling a story that features the adventures of a two-man detective team comprised of a rookie and veteran, the anime will be directed by “Tiger & Bunny’s” episode director and storyboarder, Joji Furuta.
Making his return to oversee the series scripts is Tomohiro Suzuki. With him to work on the character designs once more is manga creator Masakazu Katsura. Handling the animation character design once more after having worked on the “Tiger & Bunny The Movie: The Rising” and “Tiger & Bunny the Movie: The Beginning” films.
Taking charge of the series production is Ryo Ando, who recently worked as an episode director for romance series “After the Rain.” Composing the music for the series is the composer behind “My Hero Academia”, Yuki Hayashi.
Coming on March 24 to 25 at the AnimeJapan event, there will be a promotional video to be released at the Bandai Namco Booth.
“Tiger & Bunny” first came out in April 2011 as an anime series produced by Sunrise. Directed by Keiichi Satou and written by Masaumi Nishida with character designs done by Masakazu Katsura, the series has a total of 25 episodes before ending in September 2011. Prior to the end of the anime series, a one-shot manga was released in August 2011. It was released in Shueisha’s Weekly Young Jump magazine with Masakazu Katsura as its creator.
In September 2011 and February 2011, the films for the franchise, “Tiger & Bunny: The Beginning” and “Tiger & Bunny: The Rising” were released respectively.
The story of the series is set in a world where people are able to gain mysterious powers known as “NEXT” and grow to be either heroes and villains. In this futuristic world, heroes don’t simply just fight crime, they also earn income by acting out as their sponsors’ wishes. One of these heroes is Kotetsu T. “Wild Tiger” Kaburagi, an old-fashioned hero who after losing his long-running sponsor, is moved to another sponsor and forced to work with rookie hero Barnaby “Bunny” Brooks Jr. as the first hero pair.
