More is revealed for the live-action film adaptation of the “After the Rain” a.k.a. “Koi wa Ameagari no You ni” as a full trailer for the film has been released for streaming on its official website.
Featured in the trailer is the theme song “Front Memory” by Emiko Suzuki and Seiji Kameda. Set to debut in Japan on May 25, the film has Akira Nagai as its director and Riko Sakaguchi, who worked on “The Tale of Princess Kaguya” and “Mary and the Witch’s Flower” films working on its script.
From left to right, starring as the high school protagonist Akira Tachibana is Nana Komatsu. Playing the role of the middle aged manager Masami Kondou is Yo Oizumi.
As for the rest of the cast for the cast, starting from top left and going clockwise, they include:
Shōno Hayama as Takashi Yoshizawa, Akira’s classmate who has a crush on her
Nana Seino as Haruka Kiyan, Akira’s close friend and captain of the track team
Hayato Isomura as Ryōsuke Kase, Akira’s fellow part-time worker and cook at Garden
Honoka Matsumoto as Yui Nishida, Akira’s fellow part-time worker and waitress at Garden
Mari Hamada as Kayoko Kubo, Akira’s fellow part-time worker and waitress at Garden
Shigeyuki Totsugi as Chihiro Kujō, Masami’s old friend, and a novelist
Yō Yoshida as Tomoyo Tachibana, Akira’s mother
Maika Yamamoto as Mizuki Kurata, a track star who has her sights set on Akira
“After the Rain” started off in 2014 as a manga series written and illustrated by Jun Mayuzuki with Shogakukan’s Monthly Big Comic Spirits magazine as its first publisher. By 2016 the series was moved under the publication of the Weekly Big Comic Spirits magazine. It was in January 2018 that the series gained an anime adaptation with Wit Studio taking charge of the production with Ayumu Watanabe as the director and Deko Akao as the writer.
The story of the series tells of Akira Tachibana, a high school girl who was once the star of the track team but due to an injury has since left the team. Now she works part time at a family restaurant where her secret crush, the middle aged Masami Kondou works as the manager.
