Streaming Idols are What's Next for the Pretty Series Anime

The “Pretty Series” idol franchise has officially gained a new series as announced on Wednesday by company syn Sophia at a press event. The series is set to be released in April and is titled “Kiratto Pri☆Chan” a.k.a. “Sparkling Pri☆Chan.”

The new series will be making its debut under TV Tokyo, it’s network affiliations and BS Japan with Hiroshi Ikehata as the director. Prior to this series, Ikehata had mainly worked as an episode director, and is known to have worked on “Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood.” He will be working at Dongwoo A & E alongside series composer Kazuho Hyodo, who also composed for “ReLIFE” series. Designing the characters is Hajime Mitsuda, the designer behind “Akiba’s Trip: The Animation.”

Taking charge of the music composition is Tatsuya Katou, a composer known to have worked on the music of “Love Live! Sunshine!!.” As for the theme song of the series, it will be performed by idol unit Run Girls, Run! and will be featuring artists Hayashi, Atsugi and Yuuka Morishima.

The story of the series takes focus on Mirai Momoyama and Emo Moegi, two first-year middle school girls who aspire to become idols. In pursuit of their dream the two girls make the decision to use the “Pri☆Chan System,” a system used by famous people and companies to broadcast content. With the use of the system the two girls aim towards becoming Pri☆Chan idols by becoming their own producers, starting their own channel and uploading content.

Three cast members of the series have already been confirmed and include:

Koko Hayashi (the voice behind Ayumi Hayashi in “Wake Up, Girls! New Chapter”) as first year middle schooler Mirai Momoyama. Mirai is described as a curious spirit who likes drawing poorly drawn but charming illustrations and has the catchphrase “Kiratto” or “Sparkling”. She is also an introvert who dislikes being the center of attention.

Miyu Kubota (who played as Sophie Houjou in “Pripara”) as the role of Emo Moegi, Mirai’s longtime friend and fellow first year in Kirarigaoka Middle School. Emo is described to be good at sports and is part of school’s cheerleading squad. She is also described to be highly updated on the latest trends but can be rather impulsive and fickle as well. Her catchphrase is “Emoi” which translates to “That’s pretty emo”

Nanami Atsugi, (who also played “Wake Up, Girls! New Chapter’s” Itsuka Atsugi) for the role of Rin Aoba, another first year in Kirarigaoka Middle School. Described as calm and collected Rin takes the role of supporter and manager to Mirai and Emo. She is also described to be quiet and excellent student who somehow knows a lot about Pri☆Chan.

The anime will be making its debut on TV Tokyo, its network affiliates, and BS Japan as a second part of syn Sophia’s “Pretty Series New Project.”
