First Impression: Mitchiri Neko

Synopsis

This is the happy-go-lucky tale of Mitchiri Nekos, mysterious cats of different colors and different personalities who gather together and have all kinds of fun antics. Get ready for some cute and funny cat adventures.

The Good

Quirky but cute would be the best way to describe the episode, and with only three minutes of presentation it actually set a rather solid theme. The comedy is rather subtle but it works rather well and it helps that all the different cats adds a fun touch to things given how colorful and different they are. Honestly, when reading the premise, you wouldn’t expect much from the work but surprisingly it didn’t turn into anything weird or too wacky. As an episode filled with different skits that lasted for a few seconds it managed to combine the fun of cats antics and a touch of weirdness.

The Bad

Being a short and basically a series of skits, it’s pretty safe to say that there isn’t much plot to be found with the work. It is rather quirky and some good comedy to it, but for the most part there isn’t much as it’s also clear that the work won’t appeal to a whole lot of audiences, unless they really like cats of course. Still, as a very short episode, there isn’t much to judge on and for the most part the only thing that can be said against it is that since there isn’t much of a plot and is more on the quirkiness of rainbow colored cats, it may not hit off for a lot of audiences.
Conclusion

Outside of all the good and bad points of the episode, you can tell that this is pretty much a quirky little work to enjoy when you want to wind down and see something cute out of all the fantasy, action, comedy and slice of life works that are being dished out for the season. Basically it may as well be a breather anime. Still it’s cute, colorful and rather simple, so if anything, it’s worth seeing at least a clip of it.
