Anime Series Garo: Crimson Moon Gains a Film

The shounen fantasy series known as “Garo: Crimson Moon” is making its return in the following year. Posted on its official website is an announcement for the series being involved in an anime film project along with news of other works of the franchise.

There is no details for the project as of yet but there are details on other works of the franchise. For one thing, there are two live-action films that are in production; first is “Kaminokiba JINGA”, a spinoff of the series focusing on Ryūga Dōgai, and centers around the character Jinga, who will be played by Masahiro Inoue. Then there is the “Garo: Yuena no Tabibito” a live-action film, which focuses on Raiga Saejima and and is set for 2018.

“The Garo: Crimson Moon” is the second series of “The Garo: Animation” franchsie and was released in October 2015. Produced by MAPPA the series ran for a total of 24 episodes plus an OVA (original video animation) before ending in April 2016. It was directed by Atsushi Wakabayashi and written by Shou Aikawa.

Featuring fictionalized versions of many Japanese historical figures, the series sets itself in Japan during the Heian period. Playing as the hero or this story is young Japanese by the name of Raikou. While he carries the title of Garo however, cannot properly summon the Garo armor himself, and instead relies on his companion, a female Makai Alchemist named Seimei. It is with her abilities that he is able to become Garo and fight against the Horrors infesting Heian-kyō.

Along with them is Kintoki a young boy who wishes to follow in Raikou’s footsteps. In their journey they battle against powerful enemies, one is a fallen Makai Alchemist named Ashiya Douman who is able to summons Horrors to do his bidding. But in the midst of their struggles though they also encounter another ally by the name of Fujiwara no Yasusuke, who becomes the bearer of the armor of Zanga the Silver Knight.

“Garo: The Animation” is Japanese anime series based on the Garo tokusatsu drama. It has a total of 3 series and all fall under the production of MAPPA.
