Amanchu! Reveals a Second Anime Season for Next April

A new season is officially confirmed for the anime series of “Kozue Amano’s Amanchu!” manga. Announced on the series’ official website on Tuesday, the new season will be titled as “Amanchu! Advance” and is set for next April. Already, the new season has confirmed details on its production.

Taking place in spring the story tells of overwhelmingly cheerful and outgoing 15-year-old Hikari Kohinata. Living in a a small and beautiful seaside town on the Izu peninsula, she goes through her first day of high school and meets slightly introverted Futaba Oki who just moved from Tokyo. With the help of Hikari, not only does Futabu gradually starts to come out of her shell but finds herself drawn into the world of scuba diving and faces the challenges it brings.

Returning as the chief director of the new season is Junichi Sato along with Deko Akao and Hiroko Fukuda for the scripts. Also making his return as the character designer of the series is Yoko Ito. The new staff members for the new season has Kiyoko Sayama replacing Kenichi Kasai as director of the series at J.C. Staff. As for the music there is Gontiti as the composer and Flying Dog as the producer.

As for the cast members of the new season, there are three confirmed members which include:

Kokoro Misaki being voiced by Ai Yamamoto

Kotori Misaki who will be voiced by Ai Kakuma, who just recently played a role in “Blend S” as Maika’s mother.

And lastly, Kodama Kohinata, to be voiced by Aya Suzaki, the voice behind Kaede Kayano in “Assassination Classroom”.

Aside from the announcement, the official website has also posted its Blu-ray Disc listings for the new season and it states the the new season will be having 12 episodes in total. The first volume of the Blu-ray Disc releases for the new season will begin shipping on May 30 and it toal will comprise of 4 volumes. Each one contains a single chapter an Aria collaboration manga by Amano, and the manga will be more than 100 pages long in total.

Written and illustrated by Kozue Amano, “Amanchu” first began as a manga series that is being serialized Mag Garden’s Monthly Comic Blade magazine since November 2008. Currently having 11 volumes, its anime adaptation came out in July 2016 under the production of studio Lerche and ran for a total of 12 episodes.
