A certain balloon made a show in this year’s Saga International Balloon Festival. It was none other than the Meowth Balloon of Team rocket who made their appearance on November 1 as part of the collaboration work between Saga Prefecture and “Pokemon” in celebration of the franchise’s 1000th episode.
The balloon itself is meant to be a part of the “Meowth Balloon Saga Invasion!: Search in Balloon Town! 10 Million Team Rocket Members!!” campaign which will be running until November 26. In this campaign seek to 10 million people for their campaign in the Saga prefecture.
At the time of the event, many gathered to watch the take off of the iconic transportation of the comedic trio as well as enjoy merchandise like T-shirts and photo shoots with the Pokemon himself. For those who were unable to make it, can watch the event with a movie that was released.
In commemoration of the balloon’s launch, a photo spot was opened at the “Saga Light Fantasy” being held near Hakusan, Saga City and features the “R” logo of the organization. It will be open from October 31 to January 8, 2018.
The “Pokemon” franchise itself is mainly known as a media company which has begun in 1995 and was as a creation of Satoshi Tajiri. Many works have been dished out from this franchise and from all the different adaptations, it has left different marks on different audiences. And in those variety of works, it has always been Team Rocket who has been recognized as the main antagonist for the majority.
Team Rocket as a whole is known as a crime syndicate lead by Gym Leader Giovanni. Their main goal is to use Pokemon for profit and work their way towards world domination. But in terms of the animated series, the term usually refers to the trio of Team Rocket members, Jessie, James and Meowth. Throughout the series, they have integrated themselves to fans as a comedic trio whose main goal is to capture Ash’s Pikachu. As the series progress, they have become integrated figures throughout the series and are still known by fans both old and new today.
