Synopsis

In the most simplest of sense this is a simple story about a talking cat, a man and an antique shop. The main idea of the series shows itself to be a type of story where each chapter tells a different story and involving the paw of a small black and white cat named Bonted.

Why you’ll stick with it

The story is interesting and the concept of a slice of life story with a talking cat and how a small shop and he may affect different customer’s lives is an interesting concept. The art is simple and makes out the cat characters as soft, sweet looking works. Just the little details like the fur texture and the overall background design makes things look relaxing and is worth a minute or two to read. It may not be an exciting opening but it is a sweet one.

Why you may drop it

As a slice of life, even with the fantasy the story won’t be all that exciting for those who are looking for some action. It is a very mellow looking series so for some readers they may find it boring. While simple, the art is not all that outstanding outside of the designs of the cats. You could argue that it is the main point of the series but then there is also a little improvement that could have been done over the main characters, but then it all falls down to judgement being a first chapter.

Conclusion

You can’t really judge much over one chapter alone, but one can have a lot of impressions from one chapter as well. So far we have a sweet little work with an interesting concept and cute design for its cats. Really, the only negative you can really say about the manga so far is that they could explored a bit more with the shop owner. Again, as a first chapter, you can’t really judge the work just yet. Maybe around the 5th chapter something can be said.
