A Team Rocket Takeover takes place in Japan's Saga Prefecture

As the quote goes, “Prepare for Trouble, and Make it Double”, for in comes a Team Rocket takeover with a Saga Prefecture collaboration. To reveal more details is none other than the Team Rocket’s own talking Pokemon, Meowth.

Through the exploration of the Saga Prefectural Government’s official website a visitor will find Meowth sneaking around and saying that team Rocket has arrived and to click if you’re interested in joining Team Rocket. This results in the site transforming into a page filled with the Team Rocket logo then is followed by a floating image of the iconic Team Rocket Meowth blimp.

With the blimp is a message attached saying that on October 25 at 11:00 a.m. JST, there will be a live broadcast held revealing more details on their takeover.

The only other detail shared from this surprise site takeover is that there will be some sort of flashy entrance from the night skies including a balloon festa at several possible locations, something about “Saga x Boss = ?” and catching all of the customers’ Pokemon. In addition to this there is also a note from the team that they will be needing at least 1 million people, which is quite confusing as the Saga Prefecture only has a population of 820,000.

As a whole Team Rocket is known in the Pokemon franchise as an imposing criminal organization ruled by the powerful Gym Leader Giovanni. But the Team Rocket, which is sometimes abbreviated as TRio or JJM, and comprised of Jessie, James and Meowth are known by many as the most comedic criminal group in the Pokemon franchise.

The comedic team was first shown in the second episode of the anime and since then have become constant fixtures in the series and are highly known by many fans for their different schemes in capturing Ash’s Pikachu and their skill for disguises. In the gaming side of the franchise the three are involved in four major schemes of the organization (Mt. Moon, Rocket Hideout, Pokémon Tower, and Silph Co.), and typically appear before the player battles Giovanni. As for other adaptations of the franchise, the group mainly act as side characters.
