Before even reaching its official anime release, plans are already made for the release of a Blu-ray/DVD BOX for the upcoming fantasy series, “Children of the Whales” a.ka. “Kujira no Kora wa Sajō ni Utau.” The set will also have a special edition which will be broken into two volumes and will be released on January 26, 2018 and March 23, 2018 respectively.
“Children of the Whales” is a fantasy manga series written and illustrated by Abi Umeda. It was first released in June 2013 and currently has 9 nvolumes under its built. Running its serialization
The tale of the series tells of a world where flying islands are the norm and travel along a seemingly endless sea of sand. In this story the hero is Chakuro is a 14-year-old archivist of the Mud Whale, a nigh-utopian island. On this island, a high percentage of its residents are both blessed and cursed with saimia, something which grants a person with great powers, but as a consequence, draws the, nearer to death every time they use.
The story of this work truly takes off when Chakura and his friends make the discovery that there are in afact other flying islands and thus begins the exploration tale of a younng man and his friends.

For now, details for the contents of the first volume has already been released. First off, there will be manga illustrations done by Umeda, bonus CDs and booklets to be part of the volume. Also included in the set are a new OVA with its draft by Umeda and an audio drama and commentary who’s drafts were also taken charge of by Umeda. As for the box packaging, the design was made by character designer Haruko Iizuka.
