More to a Hero: Marriage Hunting of Legendary Brave

Synopsis

The hero has defeated the demon lord and now an age of peace has for the land. But amongst the celebration the hero himself finds something lacking and in witnessing the engagement of his friends he finds what it is, a life partner. Thus a new adventure for the legendary hero has begun.

The Good

It’s not often that there is a story that takes on the aftermath story of an all powerful hero with how popular the formula of creating a grand hero is. There are hero stories a twist to their general formula such as with the love story of the powerful hero of “Yuusha-sama ni Ikinari Kyuukonsareta no Desu ga” but with this story we see the hero on a more personal level and the overall story is not only interesting but simple as well.

With the hero you would expect a confident young man or a battle weary man, maybe even a mix of both with the end of an age of fear from a demon king. What the reader gets instead is an emotionally awkward young man with immense strength and magic but a kind heart.

As the reader follows his journey in finding a partner to spend his life with as his friends have with one another, you cannot help but root for the protagonist though humorous his attempts end up to be. It is also interesting on how each character that he meets holds their own perspective and little stories in their encounters with Yuri.

The art holds a simple appeal and looking at the big picture, everything about the story is a simple concept expanded into a humorous and thoughtful adventure on the part of the hero.

The Bad

With each chapter it is easy to see that the focus is on the concept of Yuri finding a wife through unconventional methods but at the core of things it’s just the same point told with a different characters but a similar scenario for majority of the chapters.

The hero gets rejected only for the characters who rejected him realized their mistake but it is too late as he had already left as he wanted to find someone who would who he is and not what he is and a new depth of the character’s journey  is learnt.

It feels rather episodic when laid out that way and then halfway through the series the concept escalates on a whole new level. What’s more, in looking at the female characters that the female characters seem very similar in facial design and the only difference is their hair and costume.

Overall the flow of the execution of the concept could have worked better and the females seem rather generic in not just design but for the first half you see many similar types of females in other series. The only difference here is on how the hero reacts to them.

Conclusion

The series overall is a very interesting tale with its only flaws lying in it story flow and character design. The hero brings a new perspective on the hero type of stories and throughout the chapters the reader will find themselves with different heartwarming situations where they cannot help but feel like cheering for Yuri. The art is simple but there could have been more dynamic in the design of the females. To put it simply, if you’re looking for a fun, heartwarming tale, then this is the story for you.
