A new animation studio is up and running and its name is Bibury Animation Studio. Named after the town of Bibury in England, the studio was founded by anime director Tensho and currently has an official password locked website opened with a promotional video for the it.

Officially the new studio was announced on Saturday, something which Tensho had previously teased on Friday. In addition to the revelation, it was also announced that the studio already has an anime in production. Based off of Frontwing’s game “Grisaia: Phantom Trigger”, the upcoming series will be directed by Tensho.

“Grisaia: Phantom Trigger” is a spin-off work from the original Grisaia, a Japanese adult visual novel trilogy. With Frontwing as the creator and Akio Watanabe and Fumio as the illustrator he first of the trio is titled “The Fruit of Grisaia” and was released in February 2011. Followed after this was “The Labyrinth of Grisaia” in February 2012 and “The Eden of Grisaia” in May 2013.

The story for the trilogy starts off with transfer student Yuuji Kazami entering into Mihama Academy and discovering that there are only five female students and that the school looks more of a prison than a school. But having asked for a normal life before, what can Yuuji do?

With “Phantom Trigger” a completely new and different story is introduced with five new girls and protagonist. Taking place after the trilogy the story tells of class of students in Mihama Academy which is not only inadvertently turned into a “specialist training school” by an anti-terror organization CIRS, but the students are handed guns and are entered in training to become special operatives no matter how risky the path may be.

Director Tensho, otherwise known as Motoki Tanaka, is not only recognized as an anime director but also a key animator, series composer and storyboard artist. He has previously directed all other adaptations of the Grisaia franchise and has done a variety of work under his two names.

Working with him on the production is Akio Watanabe as the character designer and chief animation director, having previously worked on the character designs of previous adaptations. Producing the anime is Ryuichiro Yamakawa, recognized for his work in producing the previous adaptations as well.
