The first episode
The opening and ending was both catchy and memorable in its own way and was one of the first points that would draw a viewer into the show. The opening was cheery with cute vocals and bright and poppy visuals that was further brought out with the attention to detail given to them.
On this note, the art and animation style was also done quite well in terms of details to the characters and most especially the food. While only a handful of characters were introduced, they were also introduced well enough and had little points given to the which made them interesting enough for a first episode.
The main problem however with the introduction of these characters and the general flow of the episode however was that the transition was not all that smooth and didn’t mesh well in terms of execution. Overall, the at style was good but overall general, the transition and flow could have been handled better but the music and attention to detail brought some high points for a good first impression.
After the first
The main idea of the series points to a restaurant being able to open to a completely different world and the people from there enjoying something completely new and different once a week. But with this being the only focus of the series, the lack of plot seems rather prevalent.
True there is some slight improvement with the latest episodes with a change in perspective and exploration into the divisions found in the fantasy realm, but that mainly points towards the exploration of characters rather than plot. With each character introduced, the viewer gets different perspective and get to receive sneak peeks into the world which the restaurant opens up to.
In just the episode that they were introduced, a general idea is formed on them and most if not all the characters hold an overall positive note to them that make them either amusing or likeable. The art and animation of the series still hold up even if it is somewhat but the little details such as the scales, mane, and even ears of the different characters is point which makes the series stand out.
Then there is also the creation and eating of the food and the detail of the food itself. Granted it it is to be expected that an anime series focused on characters enjoying new and different food would be mindful of those details is expected, the fact that it still holds out after 6 episodes is still well in comparison to many other series which animation flaws can be seen in as the middle of the series approaches
Overall, the plot is lacklustre but the character exploration is interesting, the music is interesting and catchy, the art and animation is general but does well in details and the characters are interesting enough to keep the show going. Aside from the lack in plot, the general good points of the series still remain.
So if you’re looking for a series that mixes fantasy and food with some well done character and plot exploration along with catchy and memorable music then this the series for you. True it may not a completely concrete plot but it does hold good qualities when presenting dashes of drama and action with the character stories.
