The official character designs for the foxy ladies of “Kotohana Kitan” and the people to work on the production are officially released as more details are revealed for the new upcoming anime featuring fox spirit women and onsens.
Originally a manga created by Sakuya Amano and serialized by Gentosha’s Monthly Comic Birz seinen manga magazine the series tells the tale of a Yuzu, a fox spirit whom was abandoned as a kit but grew under the care of a human nun and ended up working at the luxurious hot springs inn of Konohana-tei in order to broaden her knowledge.
Being a boundary between the human world and the spirit world, Yuzu finds that her working place also doubles as an opportunity to encounter many different and interesting customers such as visiting gods.
Yuzu is also noted to be a girl with a bright and cheerful personality but is a bit clumsy. She will be played by multimedia artist, singer, songwriter, and peace activist Yuko Ono.
Playing as the responsible and serious Satsuki is Sawako Hata, who played as Suzuko Kanzaki in the “AKB0048” series. She is acting as Yuzu’s trainer and senior and dreams of one day becoming a shrine maiden.
Taking on the role of boyish fox spirit Natsume is Ayaka Suwa, who is recognized for her role in “Absolute Duo” as Tomoe Tachibama. While Natsume may be noted as inconsiderate to others’ feelings she is also boisterous, outgoing and likes to not only wear men’s clothing but also talks using male pronouns as well.
Risa Kubota, who once played as Maya\u Midou in the tenth episode of “Aikatsu Stars”, is voicing Ren, a fox spirit who outwardly strives to be beautiful and graceful. Bt while she may be these things on the outside, she is often filled with spiteful thoughts and due to trauma of the past, does not get along with males.
Voicing the quiet but curious Sakura is the voice actress for Isuzu Sento in “Amagi Brilliant Park”, Ai Kakuma. Her character is noted to always be wandering around a lot and uses her fox-spirit magic to perform ordinary chores such as cleaning and housework.
Lastly, playing as the shrewd head caretaker at the Konohana-tei hot springs inn, Kiri, is Manami Numakura, who voiced Tomo in “Fuuka.” Her character is described to enjoy smoking a pipe and drinking sake, but she also cares deeply about the other fox-spirits who work at the inn
Directing the series is Hideku Okamoto with Takao Yoshioka as the series composer and Keiko Kurosawa as the character designer. They will be working with Lerche for the animation production.
