While fans anticipately wait for a second season for the action packed series that is “One Punch Man”, Bandai Visual, the production company whom licensed the series, has announced that there will be a release of a a four-drama CD series entitled “Maji CD Drama & Song.”
It is noted that for the cover of the drama CD which is presented above, character designer of the series Chikashi Kubota, drew the jacke that Saitama is wearing.
The release schedule of all four volumes are as follows:
Vol.1: September 27, 2017 (Featured character: Saitama)
Vol.2: December 20, 2017 (Featured character: Genos)
Vol.3: March 21, 2018 (Featured character: Speed-o’-Sound Sonic)
Vol.4: June 20, 2018 (Featured character: TBA)
Within each CD there will be two newly-written episodes created/supervised by ONE and one episode based on a bonus manga in the tankobons. So, for one out of three episodes that runs for a total of 40 minutes, it will be based on the “200 yen” chapter of the manga series. Other than that, the CD will also be having a newly-recorded character song by JAM Project.
At this time, only the contents of the first volume, which will be featuring protagonist Saitama, has been released and they are:
1. Audio Drama “Saitama, Tekoire Suru (Shores Up)”
2. Audio Drama “Bonus Chapter: 200 yen”
3. Audio Drama “Parallel School Drama: Junior High School Student Saitama: Episode 1”
4. Cast Talk (10 minutes)
5. Saitama Image Song by JAM Project
6. Saitama Image Song (Instrumental)
The voice cast of the series including Makoto Furukawa, the voice behind Miach in “Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon?”, as the main hero Saitama and Kaito Ishikawa, who played Tenya Iida in “My Hero Academia”, as his companion and disciple Genos are confirmed to be reprising their roles for the drama CDs.
“One Punch Man” is a series that was first published in 2009 as a webcomic with currently around 117 chapters. It was in 2012 that the series was remade by one Yusuke Murata and gained a digital publication via the Shueisha’s Weekly Young Jump’s spin-off manga website Young Jump Web Comics. The series then gained a 12-episode anime adaptation in 2015.
The story of the series tells of a young man named Saitama. Once an unemployed salaryman, a meeting with a crab monster and saving a child changed everything for him. After three years of training, he has gained unbelievable strength, and now, with a single hit, he can beat any monster.
