The newest sports anime featuring a soccer player that hates getting dirty, “Cleanliness Boy” now has both a confirmed release date and a list of cast, released via the 28th issue of Shueisha’s Weekly Young Jump magazine on Thursday.
The tale of the series as stated, features a young male soccer player who hates nothing more than getting dirty. His name is Aoyama and he’s a soccer player so skilled that holds a position in the under-16 soccer team for Japan. Yet with all of his skills, his obsession with cleanliness proves a problem as he refuses to do moves that would dirty him unless absolutely necessary.
The staff that are working on the series comprise of the following people:
Director: Kazuya
Studio: Studio Hibari
Script: Midori Gotou
Music Production: Pony Canyon
Production: TMS Entertainment is credited for production.
Opening Theme Song and Insert Song Performer: Bentham
The following listed are not only the cast to play the three main characters of the series but also details on the characters themselves.
Ryotaro Okiayu, who voices Scar in shounen series “Fullmetal Alchemist”, is voicing the protagonist of the series, first-year student of Fujimi High School, Aoyama-kun. He is described as a soccer genius with skills so great that he plays as the U-16 representative midfielder for Japan. But as stated, he holds a great obsession over cleanliness, to the point that it is his principle to avoid doing soccer moves such as throw-ins or sliding. For an unknown reason he is attending Fujimi High School and is the ace of the soccer team with #10 as his jersey number.
Kaoru Zaizen is a teammate of Aoyama’s, playing as a passionate forward and is a second-year student. He will be played by voice actor Tomokazu Seki, who played in “Arakawa under the Bridge × Bridge” as Captain. Noted as the eldest son of the Zaizen conglomerate, Kaoru was actually wearing the #10 jersey before Aoyama came along, and at first, he considered the soccer genius as creepy. Over time however, he takes notice of s hidden passion and came to accept him.
Finally, there is first-year student Moka Gotou being voiced by Anzu Haruno, a voice actress who prior to this played as an extra character in different anime series including “Love Live! Sunshine!!” Moka is noted to have no clubs and the unique quirk of carrying a spiked baseball bat with flowers on it. Her relation to Aoyama stems from how for one moment she talked to him in elementary school but he has forgotten about her.
The premiere date for the series is set to be July 2 at 24:00 and will be aired on Tokyo MX, followed by Yomiuri TV and BS11.
