Meet the Leads of the Toji no Miko Anime

As of Friday, the main leads for the Toji no Miko anime under the production work of Studio Gokumi has been revealed on its official website. While there is no confirmed voice actors for the leads, there are details on the characters.

But first, a little background on what the anime project is. There is no basis of manga or game for the project but it takes the theme of strong girls with swords. The story tells of a special group of girls with the ability to wield swords that battles against the strange beings that threaten the human world, “aratama.”

These girls serve as an official unit known as the “special religious service police squad” within the police force; wearing school uniform and donning a sword, they are known as “Toji.” There are five girls in the unit whom were authorized by the government to have their sword with them at all times and are recognized as government officials. Thus, with this recognition, there are five schools wherein different girls who wish to become a Toji may enter.

For the four main girls, there is to start, the 13-years-old Kanami Etou, her sword is called Chidori and she is a second-year student in the middle division of Minoseki Academy. She is a cheerful and positive girl that is considered a friend to many and holds the skills to be called representative of her school. She has a love for sword matches and is an enthusiast for sword techniques, so much so that her eye color changes when one talks about the topic.

Then there is Hiyori Juujou, a 14-year-old third year in the middle division of Hiragi Gakukan with a sword named Kogarasumaru. Amongst the Toji she is considered the most responsible and holds a serious, cool and stoic personality to her. What’s more she is a resolute type of person who upon deciding something is firm upon it. A skilled Toji of the group, her center lies in speed.

Mai Yanase is the third member mentioned for the group and she is a 13-year-old with the sword Magoroku Kanemoto. She is a second-year student in the middle division of Minoseki Academy and is one of the two daughters of the leader of the rising “Yanase Group” conglomerate. She is noted as a generally caring older sister who is superior in sword skills while also having a hobby in making sweets, her specialty being cookies.

Last but not least is the 12-year-old first-year in the middle division of Kamabu Girls Academy, Sayaka Itomi. She wields the sword Myōhō Muramasa and is considered as the young genius of the group. But while she is able to handle her duties with ease, she does not have the best of times in communicating with others.
